Introdution
Hello, my name is Lauren Clements and I am a writer for the Lions' Roar, the student newspaper for Normandale Community College (NCC). In this blog I will be talking about video games, both classic and current. I intend to explain my experiences with playing them from the perspective of a girl with preferably little exposure to the chosen game. I hope to broaden my video game experiences and hopefully expose others to games they normally may not play or even know of. I will touch on the history, gameplay, and general evaluations of various games. I plan to choose 2 games available to me, one from past generations systems and one from the current ones.

Hi Lauren--
ReplyDeleteFinally, a girl's blog about "video games" because I'm not familiar with them at all. In fact, I've deliberately avoided video games because I was afraid I'd get sucked into them and addicted. Since I even had trouble breaking away from a couple games of stupid "Solitaire" a few years ago.
Plus, a lot of video games are violent and I really think they have something to do with the horrible crimes being committed these days.
So, two questions:
1) Any good non-violent video games out there I wouldn't be afraid for my kids to play?
2) Any suggestions on how to play and be normal? Like, within a reasonable time limit and not letting it distract you from doing home work.
Thanks for your help,
true g.
1) Yes, there are plenty. Video Games all have ratings, and on the back of every case the ESRB lists whats in the game to give it the rating. If you see an E on lower left(?) corner of a game, its probably pretty tame.
ReplyDelete2) There really is no way I know to control game time unless you have really strong willpower. They are pretty addictive (especially at first), but eventually you get the hang of time management for them.
